Today it is again quite warm and humid (apparently 29 C). So far I am really confused with this “rainy season” everyone talks about. Since we arrived here two weeks ago everyone told us that the rainy season is about to begin and then it is supposed to rain continuously for three or four weeks…Either 2007 is an exceptional year or the rainy season is not so rainy after all. We have to see how the weather develops tomorrow. If it turns bad we will visit some museums on the weekend. If it looks good we might take the Shinkansen and go to Kyoto.
Yesterday we ate sushi from a supermarket. The price (1000 Yen = 6 Euro) is comparable to what you have to pay for sushi in a German supermarket, but the quality was much higher. The day before yesterday we went to Ueno station and bought mozzarella, tomatoes and bread. That cost almost the same as the sushi, so as expected the things from home are quite expensive here.
We have now registered for water, gas and electricity. We still have to find out how to pay the rent, but since we had to pay two months in advance we still have time for that until end of July.
This evening we will meet with other Germans I know from the language course. We will have dinner together with them near Shinjuku station.
