Yet some other parts of Tokyo

This weekend we stayed once more “only” in Tokyo. We went to Shibuya, Ebisu, Roppongi Ginza, Akihabara and Ueno. The latter just to buy some bread at the station. In Shibuya we went to a tiny little shop to get ourselves some Inkan. I will post something more in detail about that soon. From Shibuya we walked to Ebisu, where there is some kind of shopping centre. From there we took the subway to go to Roppongi, to see the Roppongi Hills towers. Unfortunately the weather was not really nice, so we decided against spending the 2000 Yen to go to the top floor. We sure want to come back some day though. Finally we went to Ginza for a movie and dinner.

On Sunday we wanted to do some shopping. We went to the “electronic town” Akihabara to get an external hard drive. Akihabara is the Otaku (geek) quarter of Tokyo. There are many shops to sell all kinds of electronics. You can find shops specialised in pocket translators, PC hardware, video games as well as plastic robots, anime DVDs etc. Likewise in the biggest shop in Akihabara (the 9 floor Yodobashi-Camera megastore), you can buy not only cameras but everything, ranging from mobile phones over household appliances, cameras, computer parts, and entertainment systems to toys, books and musical instruments. One funny thing in Akihabara are the costumed girls (mostly dressed up like a maid, but some like specific animation characters) who hand out advertisements on every corner.
